Bing Crosby’s prodigious recorded output and nearly ubiquitous presence on radio and in film during the 1930s meant that the incomparable crooner more or less owned the decade. However in 1939 bandleader Harry James’ wife woke him from a nap and urged him to listen to “this kid on the radio”. It took a few years and a move to the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, but the next generation had arrived. Chuck Redd and company close OFAM 2022 with a tribute to Bing, Frank and their colleagues of the 1930s.
