Tenor saxophone great Coleman Hawkins arrived in England in March, 1934 and spent the next 5 years traversing Europe playing in a number of bands. In 1935 and ‘37 he recorded a number of romantic ballads both alone and with Django Reinhardt and others. This concert features Jazz Kings favorite Frank Kenney, backed by a crack section including Frigo, Alden, Pizzarelli, Hyman, Miller and Tarpinian. Tunes will include "Honeysuckle Rose", "Crazy Rhythm", "Blue Moon", "Avalon", "What a Difference A Day Makes", "Star Dust", "Out of Nowhere", and "Sweet Georgia Brown".
