Oregon Festival of American Music 2015's final evening concert features the extraordinary trumpeter and vocal stylist Byron Stripling, backed by the Festival's hot jazz unit and jazz vocalist Clairdee, in an evening of Louis Armstrong sides cut during the 1920s and early '30s. Special emphasis will be placed on the sides he recorded on the Okeh and Gennett labels in the late 1920s with his Hot Five and Hot Seven units, as well as work he did with his wife , Lil Hardin Armstrong, who was instrumental in the rise of his career. Included are sides he did with two Clarence Williams' units: the Clarence Williams Blue Five (1923-25) and the Red Onion Jazz Babies (1923-24), the latter of which featured Lil Hardin Armstrong and brought Louis together with Sydney Bechet for the first time on record.
