This evening Herrmann and Steiner are represented by their memorable scores to two of the greatest movies of all time, Herrmann's 1941 score to Orson Welles' classic Citizen Kane and Steiner's 1942 score to i>Casablanca. Korngold, as much as composer for concert hall as the screen, is represented by two works – his violin concerto (which features music from 4 of his film scores -- i>Another Dawn, 1937; Juarez, 1939; Anthony Adverse, 1936; and The Prince and the Pauper, 1937) – and the famous and extraordinarily beautiful aria from his 1920 opera, Die Tote Stadt.

Finally, we are pleased to present an original ballet by Toni Pimble set to Aaron Copland's (New Jersey, 1900-1990) score for The Red Pony, performed by The Eugene Ballet Company.
