In an all-Mozart chamber music evening, Michael Anderson and microphilharmonic present his String Quartet No. 15 in D minor, K. 421/417b (1783) and Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581 (1789).
This program is especially about friendship. The first piece on our program, the Quartet in D Minor K. 421, is one of a set of six quartets that Mozart dedicated to his friend and mentor, Joseph Haydn. The second piece, the unsurpassed Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K.581, was dedicated to Mozart’s friend and fellow freemason Anton Stadler. With both friends, the violist Mozart frequently played chamber music--with violinist Haydn, and virtuoso clarinetist Stadler, the dedicatee of his concerto for the clarinet.
