The new Woody Allen film, Sweet and Lowdown -- for which Dick Hyman was, as usual, music director -- features music inspired by the Parisian group known as the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, which featured Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. This concert features material from the film, played by Howard Alden and Bucky Pizzarelli, who were the performers on the soundtrack. They are backed by Frigo, Miller and Tarpinian. Tunes will include "I’ll See you in my Dreams", "Unfaithful Woman", "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams", "Limehouse Blues", "Just A Gigalo", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "Shine", and "All of Me", performed by Lenanne Sylvester. Of the soundtrack, Janet Maslin of the The New York Times writes "...the film’s real star is its music--newer versions from Howard Alden and Bucky Pizzarelli, with musical supervision by Dick Hyman and obvious enthusiasm from one and all. This is one very tuneful labor of love."
