Get ready for an unusual event at the Hult Center – 3 concerts at once, each focussing a special dimension of south Louisiana’s extraordinary music heritage. For those inclined to music in the European classical tradition, we offer and evening of 19th century Louisiana pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk’s famous piano compositions, including “La bamboula!” and “The Banjo”. Lovers of traditional jazz can take in a hot evening of the music that was born in the Crescent City almost a century ago as Dr. Michael White and the Original Liberty Jazz Band – fresh from their 1997 appearance at New York’s Village Vanguard – present an evening of traditional New Orleans jazz that you won’t soon forget. Finally, cutting-edge Cajun band BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet and French Canadian band Ad Vielle Que Pourra share the stage in a wild evening of extremely entertaining French-American music. For those who want a little of each, we have staggered the concerts and are offering a limited number of package tickets that will get you into everything!
