So what do you do when you bring top jazz improvisers into town over the course of 2 weeks of classic Songbook concerts? Have them ply their craft during those concerts, of course. But also, why not get them all together for a straight-out jazz party? This year we’ve worked it out so that Jesse could invite 11 of our improvising featured guest musicians from both weeks of OFAM to convene for a Sunday afternoon jazz party in Jaqua Concert Hall. The rep will be classic songs featured on various concerts throughout the entire festival with plenty of other Songbook classics and jazz standards thrown in, offered as solos and group jams in 7 sets over 4 hours.
Participants: Jesse, Byron Stripling, Tim Clarke, Larry Fuller, Ted Rosenthal, Howard Alden, Graham Dechter, Lynn Seaton, Chuck Redd, Tony Glausi, Gary Hobbs and Tom Wakeling.
The format for the evening will be our usual jazz party: top-ticketed cabaret seating down front of the main floor, and reserved seating up in the balcony, with a full bar in the Tykeson Lobby.
