Festival and Shedd regular, vibraphonist and drummer Chuck Redd and friends offer up a fine evening filled with the sounds of two of Chuck’s favorite Songbook composers, Frank Loesser (1910-69), and Cy Coleman (1929-2004). Loesser, who also wrote fabulous lyrics, wrote award-winning hits for Tin Pan Alley, Broadway, and Hollywood, including the complete scores to Guys And Dolls, Where’s Charlie?, The Most Happy Fellow (for which he also wrote the book), How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Hans Christian Anderson. Coleman’s career, much of it with lyricist Carolyn Leigh, was equally broad and award-winning, and included the scores to Sweet Charity (with Dorothy Fields), Wildcat, Little Me, Seesaw, The Will Rogers Follies, City of Angels and On The Twentieth Century.
