The 2013 OFAM jazz party goes to the movies with an evening of small group standards-based jazz that draws exclusively from classic songs written for movies in the 1930s and early '40s or being interpolated into them.
As usual, Ken and company will deliver everything from solos to group jams, with Clairdee and Byron on vocals. The format for the evening will be our usual jazz party: top-ticketed cabaret seating down front of the 21+ main floor, and reserved seating for all ages up in the balcony, with a full bar in the Tykeson Lobby. We get going at 7 pm--an hour earlier than the Festival's other evening concerts. While dressing up is not required, in the spirit of the event we encourage it for those who opt for the Gold Circle cabaret seating (especially if you go period!).
So Ken has put together a huge list (available here online and in the program at the party) and the evening’s program will be shaped by audience requests. Be prepared for a relaxed evening featuring some of the best standards-based jazz anywhere...with plenty of fine vocals.
