In 1956, the same year he launched the Ella Fitzgerald Songbook series, Norman Granz produced Ella and Louis which featured the duo, backed by the Oscar Peterson trio, on 11 ballads. The album was so successful, he followed it in 1957 with Ella and Louis Again, also with the Peterson Trio, and Porgy and Bess
We take a break from our march through the Fitzgerald songbooks for a concert honoring these fabulous recordings, featuring Clairdee and Byron Stripling. The format for the evening will be like our popular jazz party: top-ticketed cabaret seating down front of the 21+ main floor, and reserved seating up in the balcony, with a full bar in the Tykeson Lobby. It won't be quite as intense as our regular jazz party, but be prepared for a relaxed evening featuring some of the best standards-based jazz anywhere...with plenty of great singing.
