Richard Rodgers songs are, unequivocally, cornerstones of the jazz songbook, and are some of the most fertile melodies for jazz improvisation (see, for instance, John Coltrane’s famous take on "My Favorite Things"). Ken Peplowski and his quintet (Dick Hyman, Bucky Pizzarelli, Doug Miller and Jason Palmer) dedicate an instrumental afternoon to laying out the nature of standards-based jazz through Rodgers' work, including such hits as "I Could Write a Book", "It Might as Well Be Spring", "Falling In Love With Love", "Isn’t It Romantic", "Love Me Tonight", "People Will Say We’re in Love", and of course "My Favorite Things".
