Two of Texas’ greatest singer/songwriters Lyle Lovett & Robert Earl Keen will turn the stage into their front porch for one special acoustic evening at the Hult Center's Silva Concert Hall Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 15 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of Americana, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, and on stage and television. Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.
As singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keen has built a reputation as one of the nation’s finest musical storytellers, he has been guided by several self-imposed rules and traditions that are often the antithesis of music industry standards. BMI recently presented him with their first ever Troubadour Award for excellence in songwriting, a songwriter's songwriter. Now three-decades on from the release of his debut album — with eighteen other records to his name, thousands of shows under his belt and still no end in sight to the road ahead — Keen remains as committed to and inspired by his muse as ever.
