"Brian Blade is the most imaginatively supple drummer in jazz.” — The New York Times
Widely recognized as one of the finest and most versatile drummers in modern jazz—or in all of popular music, for that matter—Brian Blade is massively busy, often at the service of others (he last appeared at The Shedd, for instance, with Wayne Shorter, for whom he regularly plays) rather than on his own inestimable create projects. So an opportunity to see Blade straight up, as it were, on tour with his beloved, long-standing Fellowship Band is one not to pass up.
The Fellowship revolves around the writing of Blade and keyboardist Jon Cowherd, whose concepts tends toward the pastoral, elegant and cathartic. Colors float in and out of focus; Blade and Cowherd score sounds like pedal steel guitar, harmonium and bass clarinet.
