KURLEEN GEORGE is passionate about sharing music with others through singing, acting and teaching. She is a classically trained singer, but also sings jazz, pop, and the music of her Caribbean heritage (reggae, zouk, calypso and more). Kurleen has performed with the late Allen Toussaint (with the American Metropol Orchestra), Portland Opera, Enlightened Theatrics, Willamette Master Chorus, Salem Pops Orchestra, Opera Theater Oregon, and The Cheeseburgers Band to name a few. She is happy to be performing again at The Shedd, with Evynne Hollens and her cast of amazing singers and musicians. Kurleen’s latest recording project was with Lukas Hein, on his album Message from the New World; a jazz album inspired by the Baha’i faith. Her recent acting engagement was with Cosmic Tomato Productions on their TV series entitled, Invisible Cities (Preacher Woman). Kurleen received a Bachelor of Music from Western Oregon University and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oregon State University. She also studied opera at The American Institute of Musical Studies, in Austria. Kurleen is currently the music teacher at Scott Elementary School in Salem, and is the owner of Elevated Singing LLC, where she teaches private voice lessons and singing workshops.
