George has been working on cars since 1970. He found in high school that he had unsurpassed mechanical skills with electric devices. After graduating from high school, he went through two years of college, financing it by working on cars in his home garage. He then got a job at a Subaru, American Motors dealer and quickly moved up to the head technician position. He took and passed all 8 of the nationally certified ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) tests becoming a master technician in 1973. His love of all thing mechanical has driven the direction of his life.
George opened his first shop, European Auto Repair (currently known as Euro Asian Automotive), in 1975. George’s passion led him to purchase Autohaus in 2003 and continuing growing in business he opened Stadium Automotive in 2011. George loves being a business owner in Eugene; this has allows him to concentrate on his passion supporting and nurturing his employees, and be a pillar for our small businesses growth.
In his free time, George enjoys playing with his dogs, Cosmo and Rusty, they go almost everywhere with him. He and his wife, Janice enjoys traveling, RVing, gardening, home improvement, cooking, home automation and playing tennis.
He is very active in Rotary as Past-President of the Southtowne Rotary Club. George loves to spend his time helping others; he has been a counselor with Eugene Chamber of Commerce S.C.O.R.E since 2008, currently president of McKenzie Personnel, past board president for Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestra. His commitment to our community has led him to be on the many board of directors such as Police Advisory Board, American Cancer Society, Woman Space, Nextstep Recycling, Greenlane, past president of the Automotive Board at Lane Community College along with being one of 6 Bosch Service Council members in the US and the budget committee of LTD.
Over the years, George has been the recipient of many awards in Eugene. He was very honored in 2018 to receive the Bold Steps award. In 2012 he received Oregon Ethics in Business Award. Other awards include Emerald Award for Environmental Values, Mayor’s award for sustainability and the Eugene’s Garden club award at two of his properties.
