I was born at Sacred Heart and even though I have not lived in Eugene my whole life, I consider myself a Eugenian.
I graduated from St. Helen’s Hall in Portland. It is now Oregon Episcopal School. My college years were spent at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, outside of Cleveland. Italian was my major. It was a women’s college in the 60’s but now is coed and even has a football team. Returning to Oregon in 1970, I got a job at First Interstate Bank. After I broke my leg skiing on Mt. Bachelor, I transferred to United California Bank in San Diego. I lived in San Diego for 25 years. Met my husband Robin at a SD Chargers/LA Rams football game in 1981. We had Brandon and in 1995, moved back to Eugene. Since then, family has taken up most of my time. I did volunteer at all of Brandon’s schools. PEO, DAR, Oregon State Foundation, and School of Music and Dance at the U of O have been the organizations I have committed my time to helping.
Music has always been an important part of my life. My father loved all types of music and I remember as a young girl sitting in his lap listening to opera. He also liked his music LOUD. I enjoy feeling music, not just hearing it. I want it to be a part of me. Doesn’t matter if it is Rock, Country, Classical or 40”s Big Band. I played the piano when I was young and took many years of dance lessons – again, many types.
Why The Shedd?
My mother was the person who introduced me to The Shedd. After my father died, she would attend many musical events at The Shedd. I would come with her occasionally. I enjoyed the small town feel of the Shedd and their commitment to showcase many different types of music. That is what I love about the Shedd – there is something for everyone!
