Among our favorite jazz vocalists, Cyrille Aimée returns to Jaqua Concert Hall with French-Malagasy pianist Mathis Picard on piano.
Aimee's intoxicating charm, supple, diverse voice and eclectic stylestorytelling, and improvisation blends influences of her French and Latin upbringing, as well as folk and pop.
Born and raised in France, and now living in New Orleans, she has recorded 13 albums and won countless accolades including the Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition and the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition. As an actress, Aimée co-starred with Bernadette Peters in a Stephen Sondheim tribute at New York’s City Center which inspired her to dig deeper into Sondheim’s repertoire, resulting in her fourth album, Move On: A Sondheim Adventure. Aimée's rendition of "Marry Me a Little" earned her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals, in 2019. She has shared her story via master classes, a TEDx talk, and addresses at the Conference on World Affairs.
