Ehud Asherie returns to Jaqua Concert Hall for a double dose of Harlem jazz piano. This first seating (7 pm) offers a survey of Harlem Stride…James P. Johnson, Willie "The Lion" Smith, Thomas "Fats" Waller, Luckey Roberts, and Duke Ellington. The second seating (at 9 pm) focuses on bebop and other latter-day Harlem greats like Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Elmo Hope, Freddie Redd, Mary Lou Williams and Tadd Dameron. He will include a few of his own compositions as well.
Buy both seatings a receive a 15% discount. Students high school and younger get in free. If you attend the 7 pm first seating, consider starting your evening with the pre-concert dinner in Warren Court at 5:30 pm.
This concert is eligible for The Shedd's Free Shedd Jazz Student Ticket program, which makes a free ticket to select 2021-22 Shedd jazz concerts available to students high school and younger. The program is made possible by a support from Shedd benefactors dedicated to exposing young people to jazz in all its forms. Contact The Shedd Ticket Office for information.
