Looking for a top-notch professional ensemble to perform with? The Shedd Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) is the place for you! Students will play with the best of the best musicians in the Eugene area; hand-picked by our band leader. You'll be surrounded by peers who are as passionate about music as you are. SYJO will be playing challenging music and help students learn to swing like the pros. We will have performance opportunities both at the Shedd, and in the Eugene community. There will be workshops/coaching with some of Oregon's best jazz musicians and pedagogues to help bring you to the next level with your music. SYJO musicians will learn not just about the music, but also the history of it, and how to GROOVE together as a band. Students will get the chance to perform in at least one show each term here at the Shedd with community gigs as well; there will be opportunities to play festivals, book touring gigs, making records, and more!
