"Peppino writes wonderful guitar pieces. He's one of my favorite composers for this cranky instrument. Plus, he's a tone player. I love his sound... gets the resin and the wood." --Leo Kottke
"A phenom in the same league with John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Doc Watson and John Renbourn." -- Jazziz
"D'Agostino plays steel-string guitar with virtuosity and complexity...Influences are as far-flung as the flamenco work of Paco de Lucia and the pop sensibility of the Beatles, evident in the songs he's written, which brim with memorable melodies." -- Chicago Tribune
"His passionate guitar work and resonant compositions will captivate any listeners...turn up the volume and enjoy." -- JazzTimes
Italian-born guitar virtuoso Peppino D'Agostino runs the musical gamut from jazz, flamenco and pop to folk rock. He discovered the acoustic guitar at age 10 and eventually spawned a passion for world music and the progressive rock of the 1970s. His first album was released in 1981. Successful collaborations soon followed with jazz-rock fusion master Stef Burns. While D'Agostino has lived in the U.S. since the 1980s, his attachment to his native Italy still runs deep, as evidenced by his compositions, some inspired by his hero Ennio Morricone. He has released 13 CDs, most recently Bayshore Road (with Stef Burns, Favored nations 2005) and Made In Italy (MesaBluemoon/USA, 2008).
